The best way to reach us is by email.
Write to [email protected]. We read every message, though we cannot promise an immediate reply. Email is the only way to reach us. The site has no contact form, no comment section, no phone number and no postal address, so there is nothing else to look for.
Clicking the address above opens your own email program. The website itself does not receive or store anything when you click it. Your message goes from your email account to ours, like any other email.
Report a factual error
If you spot a wrong date, name or credit, please tell us the page, what is wrong and, if you can, where the correct information is published. A link to a reliable source makes the review much faster, but it is not required. We review corrections and note significant changes as described in the Editorial Policy.
A useful report looks like this: the address of the page, the sentence or detail you think is wrong, what you believe is correct and the source for it. A message such as the release year in the third paragraph does not match the year given in the film's own credits, with a link to a credit listing, is something we can check in a few minutes. A message that only says a page is wrong is harder to act on.
Not every disagreement is an error. In film history, numbers such as budgets and box office are often reported differently by different sources, and some release dates depend on whether you count a festival premiere or a general release. In those cases we usually give a range or say that a figure is reported. If you believe we have picked the wrong figure, send us your source and we will look again.
Suggest an entry
Tell us which film, franchise, character or topic you would like to see covered and why it matters. We cannot promise to add every suggestion. The strongest suggestions explain what the subject changed in the genre, such as a technique it introduced, an audience it reached or a style it started, since that is what an encyclopedia entry is built around.
We also welcome ideas for the sections that explain craft and history, for example a technique you would like to see explained or a turning point in the genre that deserves an article. Suggestions are weighed by whether the subject can be covered accurately from reliable published sources.
Copyright and takedown
If you believe something on PORTFLICK infringes your rights, send us the page address and a description of the issue. Tell us which work you own or represent and what you want us to do. We will review it promptly and remove or fix the material if needed.
The site is written in our own words and uses original artwork, so most concerns will be about a quotation, a name or a detail. If you are not sure whether something qualifies, write anyway. We would rather hear about a possible problem than miss it.
Questions about privacy or these pages
If you have a question about what the site does with information, the Privacy Policy explains it in plain language, and you can also write to us. If you need clarification about how you may use the content, see the Terms of Use. For questions about how entries are researched and checked, see the About page and the Editorial Policy.
Before you write
A few quick checks can save time. If you think a fact is wrong, look at the sources listed at the end of the entry, since they show where the information came from. If you are looking for a film that is not in the library, remember that the collection is intentionally small and does not yet cover many periods and countries; that is a gap, not an oversight. If you want to see everything we have on a topic, the Movie Explorer and the section pages are the fastest route.
Common questions
Can I send a film for review? The site publishes reference entries, not reviews, so we do not review submitted films. Can I use your text? Short quotations with credit and a link are fine, as the Terms of Use explain. Can I advertise on the site? No, the site does not sell advertising or sponsored placements. Can I get a reply by phone? The site has no phone line. Email is the only channel, and it is enough for corrections, suggestions and rights questions.
What we do not do by email
We do not ask for passwords, payment details or personal information, and the site has no accounts, so there is nothing to log in to. If you receive a message that claims to be from PORTFLICK and asks for any of these, it did not come from us. We also do not accept payment for coverage, so requests to buy a place in the library will be declined.
We cannot give advice on which film to watch, identify a film from a description or answer questions that need a long reply. The Movie Explorer and the entries are the best tools for finding a film, and the connected pages are designed to answer most questions about the genre.
Accessibility and technical problems
If a page is hard to read or use, for example because of the way it works with a screen reader, a keyboard or a small screen, please tell us which page and which device or tool you were using. The same goes for broken links and for any link that leads to the wrong page. These reports are as welcome as corrections to the text, and they help keep the library usable for everyone.
How we handle your message
A message you send us is read by the people who run the site and is used to answer you and to improve the library, for example by correcting an entry. It is not added to a mailing list and it is not published. For the details of what we receive and how it is used, see the Privacy Policy. Writing in English makes it easier for us to follow up, but we will do our best with any message that is clear.
What to expect
We read messages as time allows and may not reply to every one. Corrections are made when we can confirm them, and significant corrections are noted on the page. Thank you for taking the time to write.
